4 Easy Ways to Beat Funky Fridge Smells

Are you met with funky or stale odors every time you open your fridge door? Instead of doing the ninja-quick-door-slam, let's get that fridge refreshed (for good!).

Your refrigerator is one of the most important tools in your kitchen. Check out these 4 Easy Ways to Freshen Up Your Fridge... you'll be breathing a sigh of relief in no time!

Before we get to freshening up that odor, let's prep that fridge!

Don't skip this step! Prepare to remove your fridge's stinky odor by clearing your counter or table space so you can pull everything out. Make sure your trash can is nearby... you'll want to throw away any old produce or (ahem) moldy items that you forgot about.

Once your shelves are cleared, wipe down any sticky spills and make sure you have a blank slate to work with. Feel free to use a microfiber cloth or paper towel for this. Some distilled vinegar or hot soapy water works wonders!

Once your shelves are clean, you're ready to start fresh and deodorize.

4 Easy Ways to Beat Funky Fridge Smells:

Neutralizing the air in your fridge and infusing some fresh smells will help keep your fridge smelling fresh for weeks to come. Try these four solutions!

1. Baking Soda or Coffee Grounds

Absorb those smells with baking soda or coffee grounds. Both of these handy items will absorb the funky smells and neutralize the air in your fridge. Simply pour a bit into a cup and place it in the back of your fridge! If you have some major stink you need to get rid of, you can fill a whole cookie sheet with baking soda or coffee grounds, put it in your fridge overnight, and remove it in the morning.

2. Vanilla

Who doesn't love the delicious and comforting smell of vanilla? Drop a few drops of vanilla extract on a paper towel and store it in a bowl in your fridge. The sweet, vanilla scent will infuse the air!

3. Citrus Fruits

Nothing beats the fresh smell of lemon, orange, or grapefruit. Next time you're at the grocery store, throw a few extra citruses in your cart to freshen up your fridge. Cut your citrus in half and place them cut side up in a bowl in your fridge to infuse the air. Add a bit of salt on top of your citrus to enhance the scent, too! Your citrus can stay in your fridge until they are fully dried out.

4. Distilled White Vinegar

Soak a paper towel with distilled white vinegar and place it in a bowl in the back of your fridge. When it gets dried out, replace it with a fresh one. The paper towel will absorb the funky smells and neutralize the odors in your fridge.

Stink, be gone! Try any of these sweet-smelling hacks the next time you need to refresh your fridge.
