The chicken is tender and savory, and perfectly coated in that tangy, sweet, lip-smacking orange sauce you've come to crave! Ingredients
- 16 ounces frozen popcorn chicken
- 1 tablespoon canola oil
- 2 carrots, thinly sliced into rounds
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons orange zest
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1/3 cup hoisin sauce
- 3 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
- cayenne pepper, optional, to taste
- green onions, optional, to taste, sliced, for garnish
- rice, optional, to taste, cooked and hot, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -Cook the popcorn chicken according to the package directions.
Step 2 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the oil.
Step 3 -Add the carrots to the hot oil and cook, while stirring, until tender, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 4 -Add the garlic and cook, while stirring, until fragrant, about 1 minute.
Step 5 -Add the orange zest, the orange juice, the hoisin sauce, the sugar, the salt, the pepper, and the cayenne pepper to the carrot mixture and stir to combine.
Step 6 -Bring the carrot mixture to a boil and reduce the heat to a simmer.
Step 7 -Cook the carrot mixture, while stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens, about 4-6 minutes.
Step 8 -Add the cooked popcorn chicken to the carrot mixture and toss to coat.
Step 9 -Garnish with the green onions.
Step 10 -Serve the chicken over the rice.
