This might sound like an intimidating main to make but it's actually quite easy! And the sweet, apricot-glazed results are tasty enough to serve at a fancy Sunday dinner yet simple enough to make on a regular Thursday. You get to experience the tastiness of a juicy ham plus the serotonin sharing a meal together brings and both are something to celebrate! Aunt Carol's Apricot-Glazed Ham always brings delicious and joyous times, no matter what time of year it is!
Ingredients
- 1 (6-8-pound) ham, bone-in, fully cooked
- 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
- 3 tablespoons ground mustard
- whole cloves, to taste
- 1/2 cup apricot preserves
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
Step 2 -Place a wire rack in a shallow roasting pan.
Step 3 -Place the ham on the wire rack, then use a sharp knife to score 1/2-inch-deep cuts in a diamond pattern over its entire surface.
Step 4 -In a small bowl, add the brown sugar and the ground mustard and mix to combine.
Step 5 -Evenly rub the brown sugar mixture over the ham's surface.
Step 6 -Stud the cloves into the crosscuts on the ham's surface to form a pattern around the top and the sides.
Step 7 -Bake the ham, uncovered, for 1 hour.
Step 8 -Transfer the roasting pan to a wire rack and evenly spread the apricot preserves over the top of the ham.
Step 9 -Transfer the roasting pan to the oven and bake the glazed ham until it reaches an internal temperature of 140 degrees F, about 15-30 minutes.
Step 10 -Slice the ham and serve.
