When the burger mood competes with your pasta mood, don't fret! Easy Cheeseburger Pasta brings you the best of both worlds to make sure your end-of-dinner mood equals happiness. The base is obviously some bouncy pasta that is tossed with hearty beef and a ketchup-y, savory sauce that'll trick you into thinking you're devouring the hearty handheld you were also craving (just minus the bun). Who knew food fusion could solve such hungry problems?! That's what Easy Cheeseburger Pasta does!
Ingredients
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 pound lean ground beef, can substitute ground turkey
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder, divided
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- pepper, to taste
- 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 4 cups low-sodium beef broth
- kosher salt, to taste
- chili powder, to taste
- 1 (16-ounce) package whole-wheat pasta, such as elbows
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 cups Colby-Jack cheese, shredded
- scallions, to taste, sliced, for garnish
- parsley, to taste, chopped, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Coat a large, oven-safe pan with cooking spray, then place it over medium heat.
Step 3 -Add the onions to the heated pan and sauté, stirring occasionally, about 5 minutes.
Step 4 -While the onions are cooking, in a large bowl, add the ground beef, 1 teaspoon of the garlic powder, the onion powder, the Worcestershire sauce, the soy sauce, the smoked paprika, and the pepper and mix to combine.
Step 5 -Add the beef mixture to the sautéed onions and cook until the meat is no longer pink, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 6 -Add the tomato sauce, the beef broth, the remaining garlic powder, the salt, and the chili powder to the beef mixture and bring to a boil.
Step 7 -Add the pasta to the beef mixture and cook, stirring occasionally, until it is al dente.
Step 8 -Add the ketchup and the cheese to the pasta mixture and stir to combine.
Step 9 -Transfer the pan to the oven and bake the cheeseburger pasta until the cheese is melted, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 10 -Serve the cheeseburger pasta garnished with the scallions and the parsley.
