Ingredients

  • For the burgers:
  • canola oil, to taste, for greasing the grill grates
  • 2 1/2 pounds ground beef
  • kosher salt, to taste
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 3 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 8 hamburger buns, split
  • Optional, for serving:
  • cheese, to taste, of your choice, shredded or sliced
  • lettuce leaves, to taste
  • pickles, to taste
  • tomatoes, to taste

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the grill to medium-high and set it up for direct heat.

Step 2 -Once the grill is hot, lightly grease the grates with the canola oil.

Step 3 -Gently shape the ground beef into 8 equal patties, about 3/4-inch-thick.

Step 4 -Make a shallow indent in the center of each of the patties. This prevents the beef patties from swelling on the grill.

Step 5 -Season the patties evenly with the salt and the black pepper.

Step 6 -Add the patties to the hot grill, indented-side up, and cook until the patties easily lift from the grill grates, about 3-4 minutes.

Step 7 -Flip the patties and baste them with the Worcestershire sauce.

Step 8 -Cook the patties until they reach your desired level of doneness, about 3-4 minutes for an internal temperature of 145 degrees F for medium.

Step 9 -Transfer the burgers to the hamburger buns.

Step 10 -Serve with your favorite toppings.
