Turns out, making your own barbeque sauce and Homemade BBQ Chicken are actually quite easy. Homemade barbeque sauce is even more smoky, sweet, tangy, and savory than you can imagine. Pouring it all over succulent, juicy chicken thighs? Well, that's just another level of deliciousness entirely. Homemade BBQ Chicken shows you don't need a fancy grill to make great barbeque; just an oven and a little time!
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons water
- 3 tablespoons ketchup
- 3 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons vinegar
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon mustard powder
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 12 chicken thighs, skins removed
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 500 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a small saucepan over medium heat, stir together the water, the ketchup, the brown sugar, the vinegar, the lemon juice, and the Worcestershire sauce.
Step 3 -Season the sauce with the salt, the mustard powder, and the chili powder.
Step 4 -Simmer the sauce for 15 minutes.
Step 5 -Place the chicken thighs into an oblong baking dish and pour the sauce over them.
Step 6 -Cover the dish tightly with foil.
Step 7 -Bake the chicken, covered, for 15 minutes.
Step 8 -Reduce the temperature to 300 degrees F and bake the chicken for 1 hour.
Step 9 -Remove the cover, stir the chicken, and bake, uncovered, until the chicken is golden-brown and cooked through at 165 degrees F internally, about 15 minutes.
Step 10 -Serve.
