Ingredients

  • 1 pound frozen pizza dough, thawed
  • 20 slices pepperoni
  • 8 ounces part-skim mozzarella cheese, cut into 20 cubes
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 small cloves garlic, minced
  • salt, to taste
  • marinara sauce, to taste, warmed
  • red pepper flakes, optional, to taste, for topping
  • parmesan cheese, optional, to taste, grated, for topping

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2 -Grease two baking sheets.

Step 3 -Shape the dough into 1 1/2-inch balls.

Step 4 -Flatten the dough balls into 1/8-inch-thick circles.

Step 5 -Place 1 of the pepperoni slices and 1 of the cheese cubes in the center of each of the circles.

Step 6 -Wrap the dough around the pepperoni-cheese mixture, pinching the edges to seal it.

Step 7 -Shape the dough into a ball again.

Step 8 -Repeat the filling and sealing process with the remaining dough, the remaining pepperoni, and the remaining cheese.

Step 9 -Place the balls seam-side down on the prepared baking sheets.

Step 10 -Bake until light golden-brown, about 10-15 minutes.

Step 11 -Cool the puffs slightly.

Step 12 -Melt butter over low heat in a small saucepan.

Step 13 -Add the garlic and the salt, taking care not to brown the butter or the garlic.

Step 14 -Brush the butter mixture over the puffs.

Step 15 -Serve the puffs with the marinara sauce, sprinkled with the red pepper flakes and the parmesan.
