Sunday School Cinnamon Bread is the perfect treat for when you have the afternoon free and you want to take a stroll through childhood memories! The tender, cake-like bread is loaded with creamy, melted white chocolate and a cinnamon-sugar swirl for more delights than you can believe! A crunchy, brown sugar-cinnamon topping adds lovely texture and even more warm spice goodness to Sunday School Cinnamon Bread! It's a goody-two-shoes dessert that you'll be thrilled to share!
Ingredients
- For the bread:
- butter, to taste, softened, for greasing the pan
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/3 cup coconut oil, melted
- 1/2 cup maple syrup or honey
- 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 2/3 cup milk
- 2 cups all-purpose flour or whole-wheat pastry flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3/4 cup white chocolate chips or chopped chunks
- For the cinnamon crunch:
- 2 tablespoons salted butter, melted
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Using the softened butter, grease a 9x5-inch bread loaf pan.
Step 3 -In a bowl, add the granulated sugar and 2 teaspoons of the cinnamon and whisk to combine.
Step 4 -In a large bowl, add the coconut oil, the maple syrup, the yogurt, the egg, the vanilla, and the milk and whisk until combined.
Step 5 -Add 2 cups of the flour, the baking soda, and the salt to the oil mixture and mix until just combined.
Step 6 -Fold in the white chocolate.
Step 7 -Spoon 1/2 of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
Step 8 -Sprinkle the batter in the pan with almost all of the cinnamon-sugar, reserving 1 tablespoon for the topping.
Step 9 -Evenly spoon the remaining batter over the cinnamon-sugar layer.
Step 10 -Sprinkle the top of the batter with the reserved cinnamon-sugar.
Step 11 -In a bowl, add the remaining 2 tablespoons of melted butter, the brown sugar, the remaining flour, and the remaining cinnamon and mix to combine.
Step 12 -Spoon clumps of the brown sugar mixture over the loaf.
Step 13 -Bake until the center is just set, about 55 minutes-1 hour.
Step 14 -Serve.
