Ingredients

  • 8 medium tart apples, such as Granny Smith, peeled and sliced
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup orange juice
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 (17.9-ounce) package snickerdoodle cookie mix plus its cinnamon-sugar packet, such as Betty Crocker™ Snickerdoodle Cookie Mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
  • whipped cream, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Grease an 11x7-inch baking dish.

Step 3 -In a large bowl, add the apple slices, the brown sugar, the sugar, the orange juice, and the lemon juice and toss to combine.

Step 4 -Evenly spread the coated apples into the prepared baking dish.

Step 5 -In a second large bowl, add the cookie mix, then stir in the cinnamon-sugar packet.

Step 6 -Evenly sprinkle the cookie mixture over the coated apples, then evenly drizzle with the melted butter.

Step 7 -Evenly sprinkle the dump cake with the pecans.

Step 8 -Bake the dump cake until the top is golden-brown and the apples are tender, about 30-40 minutes.

Step 9 -Serve the dump cake topped with the whipped cream.
