The classic English dessert goes mobile! Banoffee Bars are all the favorite parts of the beloved pie in a cute new shape — the crumbly graham cracker crust, the tender and tropical bananas, the rich and sweet caramel, and the fluffy whipped cream on top! Everyone's going to want one or two squares of these Banoffee Bars, so thank goodness it makes enough for a crowd!
Ingredients
- 2 cups graham cracker crumbs, plus more, to taste, for topping
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 7 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 2 large bananas, sliced, plus more, to taste, for topping
- 1 1/3 cups dulce de leche
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
Step 2 -Line an 8-9-inch square pan with parchment paper.
Step 3 -In a bowl, add 2 cups of the graham cracker crumbs, the brown sugar, the melted butter, and the cinnamon and mix to combine.
Step 4 -Press the crust crumble into the bottom of the prepared pan.
Step 5 -Bake the crust until it is lightly golden, about 15 minutes.
Step 6 -Transfer the crust from the oven and allow it to cool completely.
Step 7 -Add 2 of the sliced bananas to the cooled crust in a single layer.
Step 8 -Top the bananas with the dulce de leche, spreading it out evenly.
Step 9 -Place the bars in the refrigerator to chill.
Step 10 -In a large bowl, add the heavy cream, the powdered sugar, and the vanilla, and using an electric mixer on medium-high speed, beat the cream mixture until light, fluffy, and stiff peaks form, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 11 -Spoon or pipe the whipped cream over top of the dulce de leche layer in the dish.
Step 12 -Top the bars with the extra cracker crumbs and the extra banana slices.
Step 13 -Slice and serve.
