Cheesy Crusted Chicken! It doesn't need much explanation because it's as straightforward as its name! The chicken is crusted in a crunchy parmesan and breadcrumb coating with notes of zesty lemon and aromatic garlic, and then baked so the chicken remains juicy and savory. You don't even need a sauce with Cheesy Crusted Chicken; they're so flavorful, they'll blow your mind all on their own!
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese, grated
- 1 lemon, zested
- 2 teaspoons garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- fresh lemon wedges, optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -Trim the chicken and cut it into serving-size pieces.
Step 2 -In a medium bowl, whisk together the egg and the lemon juice.
Step 3 -Place the chicken pieces in the egg mixture.
Step 4 -Cover and refrigerate to allow the chicken to marinate for 30 minutes.
Step 5 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 6 -Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.
Step 7 -In a shallow dish, whisk the breadcrumbs, the parmesan, the lemon zest, the garlic powder, the salt, and the pepper together.
Step 8 -Dip the marinated chicken into the breadcrumb mixture, coating all sides.
Step 9 -Place the coated chicken pieces on the prepared baking sheet.
Step 10 -Bake for 15 minutes.
Step 11 -Flip the chicken and bake until it is cooked through, crispy, and golden-brown.
