Here are some burgers Dad would be proud to serve up at a barbecue! Dad's Bacon Cheeseburgers infuse each meaty patty with even deeper savory flavors with Worcestershire sauce and steak sauce, as well as notes of sweetness and tang. Grilled to juicy perfection, each patty is topped with a slice of melty sharp cheddar cheese and crispy, fatty bacon: the three amigos of the classic sandwich! Dad's Bacon Cheeseburgers are easy to make and are hot and ready in just 30 minutes, so you don't have to sweat over the grill for hours on end. Instead, you can serve yourself one of these burgers with your favorite toppings. It's not a true cookout until you get to enjoy the fruits of your labors!
Ingredients
- For the bacon cheeseburgers:
- 2 tablespoons onion, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons ketchup
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon steak sauce
- 1/4 teaspoon cider vinegar
- 1 pound ground beef
- 4 slices sharp cheddar cheese
- 4 hamburger buns, split and toasted
- 8 bacon strips, cooked
- Optional toppings:
- lettuce leaves, to taste
- tomatoes, to taste, sliced
- onion, to taste, sliced
- pickle slices, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the grill to medium heat or preheat the broiler.
Step 2 -In a large bowl, combine the onion, the ketchup, the garlic, the sugar, the Worcestershire sauce, the steak sauce, and the cider vinegar.
Step 3 -Crumble the beef over the mixture and mix well.
Step 4 -Shape the beef mixture into four patties.
Step 5 -Grill the burgers, covered or broil 3-inches from the heat until the juices run clear and a thermometer reads 145 degrees F for medium doneness when inserted into the center, about 4-7 minutes on each side.
Step 6 -Top with the cheese and continue cooking until the cheese is melted, for about 1 minute.
Step 7 -Serve the burgers on the buns with the bacon and your favorite toppings.
