Ingredients
- 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons red wine vinegar
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper, plus more, to taste
- 1 (2-pound) flank steak
- coarse salt, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -In a large bowl, add the oil, the garlic, the red wine vinegar, the soy sauce, the honey, and 1/2 teaspoon of the black pepper and whisk to combine.
Step 2 -Add the steak to the marinade, then flip it so both sides are completely coated.
Step 3 -Cover the bowl, place it in the refrigerator, and allow the steak to marinate for at least 2 hours and up to overnight.
Step 4 -Preheat the grill so that one portion is prepared for high, direct heat and the other portion is prepared for lower, indirect heat.
Step 5 -Transfer the steak from the marinade and gently shake off the excess.
Step 6 -Generously sprinkle the marinated steak with the coarse salt and the extra black pepper.
Step 7 -Place the seasoned steak on the grill over direct heat and cook until both sides are seared, about 1-2 minutes per side.
Step 8 -Move the seared steak to the indirect heat side and cook until it reaches an internal temperature of at least 135 degrees F for medium-rare doneness.
Step 9 -Transfer the steak to a cutting board and tent it with foil. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
Step 10 -Slice the steak against the grain and serve.
