You will want to get absolutely loaded up on this fabulous dish! Drunken Pork Chops are a saucy way to liven up your meals any day of the week. Just get some pork chops smothered in a malty beer sauce and let them simmer for an intoxicatingly decadent meal. Don't get steamed by spending so much time bellying up to the ole' kitchen bar, this is so easy and so delicious... you will be woozy for Drunken Pork Chops and all of your chums will love it too! Ingredients
- 5 pork chops, boneless and thin-cut
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
- 1 teaspoon all-purpose seasoning
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons flour
- 12 ounces lager beer
- 1/8 cup brown sugar
- 1/3 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons dried thyme
- 1 bay leaf
Directions
Step 1 -On a large platter, add the pork chops and season them with the salt, the black pepper, and the all-purpose seasoning on both sides.
Step 2 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil until it is shimmering.
Step 3 -Add the seasoned pork chops to the heated olive oil and sear on each side until browned, about 3 minutes per side.
Step 4 -Transfer the pork chops from the skillet to a clean large platter.
Step 5 -In the same large skillet, add the onions and the garlic and sauté until softened and translucent.
Step 6 -Add the flour to the onion mixture and cook, while stirring, until lightly golden, about 1 minute.
Step 7 -Add the beer, the brown sugar, the ketchup, the thyme, and the bay leaf to the onion mixture and stir to combine.
Step 8 -Add the pork chops to the sauce mixture and simmer, uncovered, until the pork reaches an internal temperature of 145 degrees F and the sauce has thickened, about 10 minutes. Make sure to turn the pork at least once during the simmering.
Step 9 -Remove and discard the bay leaf.
Step 10 -Serve.
