Skip the store-bought stuff, Favorite Berry Lemonade is where it's at! All the hot days will be made glorious by a tall glass of this completely homemade strawberry lemonade. It's sweet yet perfectly tart and contains nothing but fresh ingredients, which is always the best! Ditch the powders and turn to a home-grown pitcher of our Favorite Berry Lemonade instead!
Ingredients
- For the strawberry simple syrup:
- 1 (1-pound) carton fresh strawberries, hulled
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 cups water
- For the strawberry lemonade:
- 1 1/3 cups fresh lemon juice
- 5 cups water, ice-cold
- ice, to taste
- strawberries, to taste, hulled and sliced, for serving
- lemon wheels, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -In a large saucepan, add 1 carton of the strawberries, the sugar, and 2 cups of the water and stir to combine.
Step 2 -Bring the strawberry mixture to a boil and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Step 3 -Reduce the heat and simmer the strawberry mixture until the berries turn pale and the liquid is red, about 10 minutes.
Step 4 -Skim off and discard any of the foam that has risen to the surface of the strawberry mixture.
Step 5 -Let the strawberry mixture cool in the saucepan, about 1 hour.
Step 6 -Use a fine-mesh sieve to strain the strawberry mixture into a large bowl.
Step 7 -Let the strawberry simple syrup sit in the bowl until it has completely cooled.
Step 8 -In a large pitcher, add the cooled strawberry simple syrup, the lemon juice, and the remaining ice-cold water and stir to combine.
Step 9 -Add equal amounts of the ice to each of the glasses and top with the extra sliced strawberries and the lemon wheels.
Step 10 -Evenly pour the strawberry lemonade into each of the glasses.
Step 11 -Serve.
