Some people brag about it and others just let the cake do the talking. In that spirit, we are quietly just letting the Gooey-est Butter Cake boast all about itself! Buttery, gooey, glorious... and did we say buttery? This cake is so rich it might as well wear a monocle. Tell all your friends about it, or just make the Gooey-est Butter Cake, invite your friends over, and let the cake say it all!
Ingredients
- 1 (18.25-ounce) package yellow cake mix
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 4 large eggs, divided
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract, divided
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 3 -In a large bowl, add the yellow cake mix, the melted butter, 2 of the eggs, and 1 teaspoon of the vanilla extract and using an electric hand mixer on medium speed, beat until well-combined.
Step 4 -Evenly pour the cake mixture into the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Step 5 -Clean the beaters of the hand mixer.
Step 6 -In a separate large bowl, add the cream cheese, the remaining eggs, and the remaining vanilla and using the hand mixer on medium speed, beat to combine.
Step 7 -Slowly add the confectioners' sugar to the cream cheese mixture, while beating, until combined.
Step 8 -Evenly add the cream cheese mixture to the top of the cake mixture in the baking dish, carefully spreading it out as much as possible.
Step 9 -Bake until golden-brown, about 40-45 minutes.
Step 10 -Transfer the cake from the oven to a wire rack and let it cool before serving.
Step 11 -With a serrated knife, cut the cake into serving-sized pieces and serve.
