About
Dashing through the kitchen, making spirits bright, Holly Jolly Crescent Ring is basically a Christmas carol on the table! The flaky, buttery crust holds a positively jolly amount of sweet and tart cherry filling, just as festively scarlet as can be! All over top is a snowy drizzle of homemade icing, adding a touch of cool refreshment to this already joyous dessert that you can eat for breakfast! Holly Jolly Crescent Ring all the way! Oh, what fun it is to eat at a table shared with friends!
Ingredients
- For the crescent ring:
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 (8-ounce) packages refrigerated crescent rolls
- 1 (21-ounce) can cherry pie filling
- For the frosting:
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2-3 teaspoons milk
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -In a medium mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese, 1/4 cup of the powdered sugar, the egg, and the vanilla extract together until smooth.
Step 3 -Unroll the crescent rolls and separate each triangle. Set 4 of the triangles aside.
Step 4 -Place the remaining triangles on a large circle pizza pan that is at least 14-inches across.
Step 5 -Form the crescent roll triangles into a circle with the points facing in towards the center and the wide edges facing the edges of the pan.
Step 6 -Press the dough triangles together to form a large circle with a 2-3-inch hole in the center.
Step 7 -Spread the cream cheese mixture over the crescent roll dough.
Step 8 -Top the cream cheese with the cherry pie filling.
Step 9 -Cut each of the reserved 4 dough triangles into 3 long strips each, creating a total of 12 strips.
Step 10 -Arrange the dough strips evenly over the top of the filling from the outside edge to the center circle, similar to the spokes of a wheel.
Step 11 -Press the ends together to seal.
Step 12 -Bake the crescent ring until golden brown, about 20-25 minutes.
Step 13 -Allow the ring to cool slightly.
Step 14 -While the ring is cooling, in a small mixing bowl, whisk together the remaining powdered sugar with the milk, adding the milk a little at a time to achieve the right consistency.
Step 15 -Drizzle the frosting over the still warm crescent ring.
Step 16 -Serve warm.
