Homestyle Pulled Pork Sandwich is a classic pulled pork sandwich anyone can make! Succulent pork is infused with liquid smoke for that beloved barbecue flavor. Once the pork is melt-your-mouth tender from a trip in the slow cooker, it's shredded and served on buns with crunchy coleslaw and sweet, tangy barbecue sauce. This simple but delicious way of making pulled pork is easy enough that even novice cooks can do it. That's why it's called Homestyle Pulled Pork Sandwich!
Ingredients
- For the pork:
- 1 (3-4-pound) pork roast, boneless
- 2 tablespoons kosher salt
- 1/3 cup liquid smoke
- 1 cup water
- For the sandwiches:
- 10 hamburger buns or rolls, split horizontally
- 2 cups coleslaw, store-bought or homemade
- 1 cup barbecue sauce, store-bought or homemade
Directions
Step 1 -Season the pork roast all over with the salt and the liquid smoke.
Step 2 -Transfer the pork roast to a slow cooker.
Step 3 -Add the water to the slow cooker over top and around the pork roast.
Step 4 -Cover the slow cooker and cook on low until the pork is cooked through, tender, and shreds easily, about 8-10 hours.
Step 5 -Transfer the pork to a cutting board and use two forks to shred the pork.
Step 6 -Add the shredded pork to the cooking liquid in the slow cooker and stir to combine.
Step 7 -Evenly add the shredded pork to the hamburger buns.
Step 8 -Top with the coleslaw and the barbecue sauce and serve.
