  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • salt, to taste
  • ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 (16-ounce) package frozen tater tots
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese, shredded
  • scallions, optional, to taste, sliced, for garnish

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2 -Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat.

Step 3 -Add the ground beef and cook, while crumbling, until completely browned, about 5-7 minutes.

Step 4 -Stir in the cream of mushroom soup.

Step 5 -Season the beef mixture with the salt and the pepper.

Step 6 -Transfer the beef mixture to a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Step 7 -Layer the tater tots evenly on top of the beef mixture.

Step 8 -Sprinkle the top of the casserole with the shredded cheese.

Step 9 -Bake until the tater tots are golden-brown and hot, about 30-45 minutes.
