Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups warm water
- 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons butter, softened, plus 3 tablespoons butter, melted, for brushing
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups flour, plus more or less as needed
- sea salt, for sprinkling on top
Directions
Step 1 -In a large bowl or in the bowl of a stand mixer with a dough hook attachment, add the warm water.
Step 2 -Dissolve the yeast and the sugar in the warm water and let stand until foamy, about 5 minutes. If it does not foam, start over with new yeast.
Step 3 -Add the softened butter, the salt, and 3 cups of the flour to the yeast mixture and mix until combined.
Step 4 -Add the remaining flour 1/4 cup at a time until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl and is only slightly sticky to the touch. Be careful not to add too much flour.
Step 5 -Knead the bread in the bowl until smooth, about 3-5 minutes.
Step 6 -Cover the bowl with a towel or plastic wrap and let it rise for 20 minutes.
Step 7 -Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
Step 8 -Line a 9x13-inch pan with parchment paper or spray it with cooking spray
Step 9 -Gently punch down the dough and divide it into 15 equal-sized pieces.
Step 10 -Roll each dough piece into a ball and space it evenly in the prepared pan.
Step 11 -Brush the balls with the melted butter and sprinkle them with the sea salt. Don't worry about using all of the melted butter, reserve some of it for use after baking.
Step 12 -Allow the balls to rise for 15-20 minutes.
Step 13 -Bake until golden brown, about 13-15 minutes.
Step 14 -Brush the rolls with the remaining melted butter.
Step 15 -Let the rolls cool for 10 minutes.
Step 16 -Serve.
