About
What's the magic behind Magic Tomato BLTA? The secret is the tomato — they're no ordinary slices of bright, savory goodness. These tomatoes have been marinated in olive oil, balsamic vinegar, garlic, and Italian seasoning so each bite is deeply herbaceous, fragrant, and flavorful, beyond what tomatoes can normally deliver! Of course, the tomatoes are just one part of this delicious spell; there's also crispy sourdough bread, succulent bacon, and creamy avocado! Magic Tomato BLTA is going to enchant your taste buds!
Ingredients
- 2 tomatoes, sliced
- 1/3 cup extra-virgin olive oil
- 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
- 8 slices bacon
- 1/4 cup mayonnaise
- 4 slices sourdough bread, toasted
- red or green leaf lettuce, to taste
- 1 avocado, thinly sliced
- salt, to taste
- black pepper, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -In a 9x13-inch baking dish, add the tomato slices, spreading them out evenly.
Step 2 -In a bowl, add the olive oil, the balsamic vinegar, the garlic, and the Italian seasoning and whisk until combined.
Step 3 -Pour the olive oil mixture evenly over the tomatoes in the baking dish.
Step 4 -Cover the baking dish with foil or plastic wrap and chill it in the refrigerator, flipping the tomatoes occasionally, for at least 2 hours.
Step 5 -In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the bacon and cook, flipping them once, until they are crispy and the fat is rendered, about 7-10 minutes.
Step 6 -Spread the mayonnaise evenly on 1 side of each slice of the bread.
Step 7 -On 2 of the mayo-smeared sides of the bread slices, evenly add the lettuce, the marinated tomato slices, and the bacon.
Step 8 -Season the avocado slices with the salt and the black pepper.
Step 9 -Add the seasoned avocado slices evenly on top of the bacon layer on each of the sandwiches.
Step 10 -Close the sandwiches with the remaining bread slices, mayo-side down.
Step 11 -Slice in half and serve.
