This may not take the place of a diamond ring, but when you serve Marry-Me Margaritas after a proposal, it makes the occasion all the sweeter! With a homemade simple syrup for a dazzling sweetness, these Marry-Me Margaritas are a tangy, citrusy, and bouncy cocktail with notes of tropical lime! Bubbly and boisterous, this cocktail proclaims that today is a happy day!
Ingredients
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup tequila, of your choice
- 1/4 cup Cointreau or triple sec
- 1 lime, juiced
- 1 teaspoon egg whites
- 1 cup ice
- coarse salt, to taste
- lime wheels, to taste
- sparkling water, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -In a microwave-safe glass measuring cup, add the water and the sugar and stir to combine.
Step 2 -Microwave the sugar-water mixture for 1 minute.
Step 3 -Stir the sugar-water mixture and microwave for 1 minute.
Step 4 -Stir the sugar-water mixture well and microwave again until all of the sugar granules have dissolved into the water, about 30 seconds.
Step 5 -Transfer the simple syrup into a glass jar and allow it to cool until ready to use.
Step 6 -In a blender cup, add the tequila, 1/4 cup of the simple syrup, the Cointreau, the lime juice, the egg whites, and the ice.
Step 7 -Blend the margarita mixture until it has the texture of a slushy, but is not completely frozen, about 30 seconds.
Step 8 -Add the coarse salt to a shallow plate. Rub the rims of two serving glasses with one of the lime wheels. Dip the rims into the coarse salt until completely coated.
Step 9 -Pour the margarita mixture evenly into the prepared serving glasses.
Step 10 -Top the margaritas with the sparkling water and serve garnished with more of the lime wheels.
