Monster Mash Butter Potatoes really don't need anything fancy to be an autumnal favorite; the kind of potato dish that makes harvest holidays so much more special! The potatoes are tender and golden, coated in a homemade, rich and fragrant sage butter! What else do you need? Monster Mash Butter Potatoes are monstrously delicious!
Ingredients
- water, to taste
- 4 pounds small Yukon Gold potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup fresh sage leaves
- kosher salt, to taste
Directions
Step 1 -In a Dutch oven, add the water to a depth of 1/2-inch.
Step 2 -Place a steam basket in the Dutch oven.
Step 3 -Bring the water to a boil over high heat.
Step 4 -Place the potatoes carefully in the steamer basket.
Step 5 -Cover the Dutch oven and reduce the heat to medium.
Step 6 -Steam the potatoes until tender, about 30-35 minutes.
Step 7 -Allow the potatoes to cool for 10 minutes.
Step 8 -In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the butter.
Step 9 -Add the sage leaves to the melted butter and cook, while stirring constantly, until the leaves turn dark green in spots and the butter is lightly golden-brown, about 4-5 minutes.
Step 10 -Transfer the sage butter from the heat.
Step 11 -On a baking sheet, add the potatoes and spread them out evenly.
Step 12 -Using the bottom of a glass measuring cup, gently smash the potatoes.
Step 13 -Transfer the smashed potatoes to a large serving bowl.
Step 14 -Add the sage butter to the potatoes and gently toss to combine.
Step 15 -Season the potatoes with the salt.
Step 16 -Serve.
