Start the morning off with the perfect dish that you will want all year long! New Year's Morning Bake is an exceptional way to begin a new tradition. When Monterey Jack and parmesan envelope themselves around seasoned, tender artichokes and fluffy eggs, you know you are on the right track. Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 (8-ounce) package frozen artichoke hearts, cooked according to the package directions, chopped
- 3/4 cup parmesan cheese, shredded, divided
- 6 large eggs
- 1/2 cup 2% milk
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon white pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 cup Monterey Jack cheese, shredded
- chives, to taste, sliced, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.
Step 3 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, add the butter and the oil and heat until the butter has melted.
Step 4 -Add the onion to the butter-oil mixture and cook until it is tender.
Step 5 -Add the garlic and cook, about 1 minute.
Step 6 -Add the oregano and the chopped artichokes to the onion mixture and stir to combine. Transfer the skillet from the heat.
Step 7 -Sprinkle 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese on the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
Step 8 -Pour the artichoke mixture over the parmesan cheese layer.
Step 9 -In a large bowl, add the eggs, the milk, the salt, the white pepper, and the nutmeg and whisk to combine.
Step 10 -Add the Monterey Jack cheese and 1/4 cup of the parmesan cheese to the egg mixture and stir to combine.
Step 11 -Pour the egg mixture over the artichoke mixture.
Step 12 -Bake the morning bake, about 30 minutes.
Step 13 -Transfer the baking dish from the heat and sprinkle with the remaining parmesan cheese. Bake until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean, about 8 minutes.
Step 14 -Serve the bake garnished with the chives.
