Calling all peanut butter fanatics! If you're in love with that creamy, peanuty goodness, you're gonna be obsessed with the Peanut Butter Dream Sheet Cake! We're not sure which part is better, the moist, peanut buttery cake or the sugary, peanut butter frosting on top! Honestly, both layers are amazing, and we know you won't be able to get enough of it. You'll be floating on clouds with every bite of this Peanut Butter Dream Sheet Cake!
Ingredients
- For the peanut butter cake:
- 2 cups flour
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup water
- 2 (8-tablespoon) sticks margarine
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup buttermilk
- For the peanut butter frosting:
- 1 (8-tablespoon) stick margarine
- 1/2 cup peanut butter
- 6 tablespoons buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 4 cups confectioners' sugar
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -Coat a rimmed sheet pan with nonstick cooking spray.
Step 3 -In a large bowl, add the flour, the sugar, the salt, and the baking soda and whisk to combine.
Step 4 -In a saucepan over high heat, add 1/2 cup of the peanut butter, the water, and 2 sticks of the margarine and bring to a boil. Cook, while stirring, until it is melted and well-combined.
Step 5 -Pour the peanut butter mixture into the flour mixture and stir to combine.
Step 6 -Add the eggs and 1/2 cup of the buttermilk to the cake batter and stir to combine.
Step 7 -Evenly pour the cake batter into the prepared sheet pan and bake until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean, about 20-25 minutes.
Step 8 -Transfer the sheet pan to a wire rack and let the cake cool slightly.
Step 9 -In a clean saucepan over high heat, add the remaining margarine, the remaining peanut butter, and the remaining buttermilk and bring it to a boil, stirring to combine.
Step 10 -Transfer the saucepan to a wire rack. Add the vanilla and the confectioners' sugar to the frosting mixture and stir to combine.
Step 11 -Evenly pour the hot frosting over the cake, then let it cool completely.
Step 12 -Cut the cake into bars and serve.
