Ingredients
- 8 ounces pasta
- 6 ounces bacon
- 1 small onion
- 1 cup frozen peas
- 1/4 cup parmesan, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon freshly cracked black pepper
- 1/8 teaspoon crushed red pepper, optional
Directions
Step 1 -Bring a pot of water to a boil.
Step 2 -Add the pasta to the boiling water and cook until the pasta is tender, for about 7-10 minutes.
Step 3 -Reserve 1/2 cup of the pasta water.
Step 4 -Drain the remaining pasta water.
Step 5 -Add the bacon to a large skillet and cook over medium heat until brown and crispy, about 5-7 minutes.
Step 6 -Transfer the bacon to a paper-towel-lined plate with a slotted spoon.
Step 7 -Crumble the bacon.
Step 8 -Drain most of the grease from the skillet, reserving about 2 tablespoons.
Step 9 -Finely dice the onion.
Step 10 -Add the diced onion to the reserved bacon grease and sauté over medium heat until tender, about 5 minutes.
Step 11 -Add the frozen peas and 1/4 cup of the reserved pasta water to the skillet.
Step 12 -Cook until the peas have heated through.
Step 13 -Add the drained pasta to the skillet, stirring to combine.
Step 14 -Remove the skillet from the heat.
Step 15 -Top the pasta with the parmesan, salt, pepper, red pepper, and crumbled bacon, stirring to combine.
Step 16 -Taste for seasoning and serve.
