Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons coarse salt
  • 1 1/2 grapefruit wedges, divided
  • ice, to taste
  • 3 slices jalapeño peppers, optional
  • 1 1/2 ounces vodka or gin, chilled
  • 1/2 cup grapefruit juice
  • 2 teaspoons honey simple syrup, optional

Directions

Step 1 -Spread the salt onto a small plate.

Step 2 -Run 1 of the grapefruit wedges around the rim of a tall glass and then roll the glass rim in the salt to thoroughly coat it.

Step 3 -Fill the glass with the ice.

Step 4 -Place the jalapeño slices into a cocktail shaker and muddle them briefly.

Step 5 -Add the vodka, the grapefruit juice, and the honey simple syrup to the cocktail shaker.

Step 6 -Add enough of the ice to the cocktail shaker until it is 3/4 full.

Step 7 -Cover the cocktail shaker and shake until the liquid is chilled and combined.

Step 8 -Strain the cocktail into the prepared glass.

Step 9 -Garnish the glass with the remaining grapefruit wedge.

Step 10 -Serve.
