Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups flour, plus more, to taste, for dusting the pan
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 3 eggs
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- confectioners' sugar, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F.
Step 2 -Grease an 8x4-inch loaf pan and then, using the extra flour, lightly dust the greased pan.
Step 3 -In a medium bowl, add the remaining 1 1/2 cups of the flour, the baking powder, the baking soda, and the salt and whisk to combine.
Step 4 -In a large bowl of a stand mixer, add the butter and the granulated sugar and beat on medium speed until light and fluffy, about 10 minutes.
Step 5 -Add the eggs and the vanilla extract to the butter mixture and mix to combine, about 2 minutes.
Step 6 -Reduce the mixer speed to low.
Step 7 -Alternate adding the flour mixture and the sour cream to the butter mixture and mix until just combined after each addition.
Step 8 -Evenly pour the batter mixture into the prepared loaf pan.
Step 9 -Bake until a toothpick inserted into the middle of the cake comes out clean, about 55 minutes-1 hour 5 minutes.
Step 10 -Transfer the cake to a wire rack and let it cool, about 10 minutes.
Step 11 -Invert the cake onto the wire rack and let it cool completely.
Step 12 -Sprinkle the cake with the confectioners' sugar, slice, and serve.
