Ingredients
- 1 (8-ounce) package cream cheese
- 1 tablespoon seasoning of your choice, such as taco seasoning, everything bagel seasoning, cinnamon-sugar, Italian seasoning, or curry seasoning
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
- bagel chips, optional, to taste, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -Using two pieces of layered foil, create a dish by folding and crimping the edges, forming a lip all around.
Step 2 -Unwrap the cream cheese and place it in the center of the foil dish.
Step 3 -Gently score the top of the cream cheese with a knife, cutting about 1/4-inch-deep.
Step 4 -Sprinkle the cream cheese evenly with the seasoning of your choice, making sure to cover all sides.
Step 5 -Pour the olive oil over the cream cheese.
Step 6 -Preheat the grill for indirect heat at 250 degrees F. On a gas grill, turn off the center burners.
Step 7 -Add the smoking chips of your choice to the grill.
Step 8 -Place the foil dish on the grill and close the grill top.
Step 9 -Smoke the cream cheese until darkened and the score marks open up, about 2-3 hours. The darkening might be subtle, but the smoky flavor will be infused.
Step 10 -Transfer the smoked cream cheese from the grill and allow it to cool.
Step 11 -Serve with the bagel chips.
