It's Southern Favorite Baked Beans! Who needs anything else? On top is a crispy crust of bacon pieces! Beneath that is a bed of tangy, sweet, and savory beans cooked until creamy and delectable! Ingredients
- 2 (16-ounce) cans white beans, drained
- 1/4 cup pure maple syrup
- 1/4 cup barbecue sauce
- 1/8 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1/4 pound lean bacon, not thick-cut, cut into 1-inch pieces
- parsley, optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish
Directions
Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
Step 2 -In an 8x8-inch square baking dish, add the beans, the maple syrup, the barbecue sauce, the brown sugar, the mustard, and the lemon juice and mix well to combine.
Step 3 -Evenly top the bean mixture with the bacon pieces, ensuring the bacon is in a single layer.
Step 4 -Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
Step 5 -Remove the foil and bake until the bacon browns and becomes crisp, about 15 minutes.
Step 6 -Serve garnished with the parsley.
