A classic of Southern cooking comes to your kitchen! Southern Shrimp n' Grits serves up creamy, rich, and cheesy grits infused with seafood flavor. Sweet shrimp coated in a savory, aromatic, and spicy mix of herbs and sauces tantalizingly invite you to sit down and enjoy this to the fullest. Since you can plate Southern Shrimp n' Grits in just 35 minutes, you can find the time to make it no matter how hectic your schedule; it's the welcome moment of relaxation you need when things get busy!
Ingredients
- For the grits:
- 15 ounces of seafood stock
- 1/2 cup white wine
- 1/2 cup water
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 cup grits
- 3 tablespoons heavy cream
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 2 cups sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
- For the shrimp:
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 pound large shrimp, shelled, deveined
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon flat-leaf parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- hot sauce, to taste
- 4 teaspoons lemon juice
Directions
Step 1 -In a medium saucepan, combine the seafood stock, white wine, water, and salt.
Step 2 -Place the saucepan over medium-high heat and bring the mixture to a boil.
Step 3 -Add the grits and cook, stirring periodically, until thickened and tender, about 5-10 minutes.
Step 4 -Add the cream, butter, and cheese, and gently stir.
Step 5 -Cover and remove the saucepan from the heat.
Step 6 -In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat the oil.
Step 7 -Coat the shrimp with black pepper.
Step 8 -Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until they begin to turn golden-brown, for about 3 minutes.
Step 9 -Add the garlic, parsley, paprika, Worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, and lemon juice and cook until a sauce forms and the shrimp are cooked through at 145 degrees F, about 2-3 minutes.
Step 10 -Scoop the grits into serving bowls.
Step 11 -Top with the shrimp and sauce and serve.
