Sunday is a day to indulge at least a little bit, right? The weekend is almost over, the workweek is coming, and you just want to hold on to that comfort and relaxation for a little bit longer. That's the feeling that Sunday's Chicken & Gravy captures in each bite! The chicken is tender, succulent, and tantalizing, swimming in creamy homemade gravy that is just waiting to be draped over mashed potatoes! Sunday's Chicken & Gravy is the kind of meal you'll be thinking about all week!
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds chicken breasts, boneless and skinless
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
- 1 (0.87-ounce) package chicken gravy mix
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- fresh parsley, optional, to taste, chopped, for garnish
- mashed potatoes, optional, to taste, cooked and hot, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -In a slow cooker, add the chicken breasts, the chicken broth, the cream of chicken soup, the gravy mix, and the black pepper and stir to combine.
Step 2 -Cover the slow cooker and cook on low until the chicken breasts reach an internal temperature of 165 degrees F and are fall-apart tender, about 8 hours.
Step 3 -Transfer the chicken breasts to a cutting board and shred them using two forks.
Step 4 -Add the shredded chicken to the cooking liquids in the slow cooker and stir to combine.
Step 5 -Garnish the chicken mixture with the parsley.
Step 6 - Serve the chicken mixture over the mashed potatoes.
