Ingredients
- 8 slices bacon, cut into 1/2-inch pieces
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 2 (28-ounce) cans diced tomatoes
- 1 (14-ounce) can tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 tablespoon butter
- biscuits, to taste, cooked and warm, sliced, for serving
Directions
Step 1 -In a Dutch oven over medium heat, add the bacon pieces and cook, stirring occasionally, until the fat starts to cook out, about 2 minutes.
Step 2 -Add the onions to the bacon pieces and cook, while stirring, until the onions have softened and are translucent, about 5 minutes.
Step 3 -Stir the diced tomatoes and their juices, the tomato sauce, the sugar, and the pepper into the bacon mixture and simmer until the gravy is reduced by at least 1/4 and up to 1/3, about 30-45 minutes.
Step 4 -Stir the butter into the gravy just before serving.
Step 5 -Serve the gravy over the biscuits.
