Ingredients

  • For the filling:
  • 3 ripe pears, sliced thin
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
  • For the topping:
  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • vanilla ice cream, optional, to taste, for serving

Directions

Step 1 -Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2 -Coat an 8-inch square baking dish with cooking spray.

Step 3 -In a large bowl, add the pears, 3 tablespoons of the brown sugar, the lemon juice, the cornstarch, the vanilla, the cinnamon, and the kosher salt and toss to combine.

Step 4 -Transfer the filling mixture to the baking dish.

Step 5 -In a medium bowl, add the oats, the flour, the remaining brown sugar, the pecans, and the melted butter and stir to combine.

Step 6 -Evenly sprinkle the topping mixture over the filling in the baking dish.

Step 7 -Bake until the pears are tender and the crust is golden, about 20-25 minutes.

Step 8 -Serve warm or at room temperature and topped with the vanilla ice cream.
